The majority of CSS students (85.7%) are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, while eligibility across all Hamden schools is 49%. At CSS, 10.6% of the students are English learners, compared to 6.35% across all Hamden schools. The school has been designated a Title I school and works towards improving our students’ education performance and to reduce the social learning gap.
C.A.F.E. works to ensure that our community is represented, to empower our families to get involved in the education of their children, provide parents with peer support, as well as family-friendly enrichment activities.
We are looking to raise money to cover operational expenses, and to provide our families with enrichment opportunities to promote equity, literacy, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Our planned program for the 2021/2022 school year includes a story night, a science evening, “How-to” sessions, international showcase, and a Fall Festival.
Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated. All donors will be acknowledged in our website and via Facebook.
